Yes... I know what you're thinking... "What's this pre-order business? Aren't these things usually free?"
Well... after over 10 years of releasing video game remixes for free (yes, it's been that long, with 100+ remixes under my belt, and over 50 of them to be featured on Overclocked ReMix), I'm finally working on a serious, professional album here. Going to be getting this puppy mastered right, with lots of live performers in the mix, proper commercial licenses to make everything legal and legit, and in general polishing the hell out of every track (something I've been accused of not doing enough).
To that end, it's a much more difficult -- but in turn a more rewarding -- project. And, it's costing me a great deal of time and funds to produce. And, since I'll be getting this one fully printed on CD and everything, it makes sense that just this one time it cost a few bucks.
And, well, I've always wanted my very own Mazedude album, that I can get on iTunes and Amazon and all that. And if there's something that you've always wanted in this life, well, you need to reach out and make it happen, right?
On a side note, I want to do this project differently... more interactively with the fans and community. Rather than just a "Surprise, here's a new finished album," you can follow the progress as it comes together, make suggestions, listen to teasers and watch behind-the-scenes videos, and even participate in the creation. More fun that way, for everyone.
Remember: the more of you who pre-order, the faster I can get the album finished, and the sooner you all get to experience the insanity. :)

Considering the long-term nature of this project, it doesn't seem fair that those who pre-order only get access to a lame "Thanks, see you in 2012!" message, so, I've been working hard to make it worth it for everyone who's helping make this album a reality. In fact, I've even created a whole new chiptune EP as a special gift, including four never-before-heard arrangements!

Ah yes... the eternal questions. What if Bioshock had been a NES game? What if Michael Giacchino only had access to sine waves to score Medal of Honor, instead of an orchestra? What if Myst IV: Revelation had been on the Commodore 64... (oddly, years before it's predecessor Myst was released on Windows)?
Find out by pre-ordering American Pixels and enjoying the bonus EP of chippy goodness. :)
